Cooperation between Advantech and Lacon

Lacon’s design and industrial engineers access the virtually unlimited technology portfolio of Advantech.

Industrial IoT solutions are more compartmentalised and frequently more sophisticated than on the American and Asian markets. Technology adaptation in Europe does not have the same dynamism as in other markets. As a result, the installed base must continue to be used and the existing standards must be complied with. Many IoT solutions must therefore overcome interfaces, be made compatible with older communication standards and introduced into the old system environment. This requires technology suppliers to be highly flexible. Advantech and Lacon have therefore entered into a partnership. The objective of this approach is introduce the technology perfected and cost-effective hardware together with new software stacks in individual solutions.

Advantech provides the technology and application competence from its immense portfolio and Lacon develops and produces application and customer-specific solutions in small and medium quantities.

Lacon’s core competencies of hardware and software computing, CAD housing concepts, printed board design, protection of electronics up to the wire harness production and the complete box build merge with the global high-tech competence of Advantech..

Horst Mattusch, Director of Sales Central Europe at Advantech, describes the strengths as follows: “Our customers can plan and discuss with the support of all the Advantech world projects from A to Z, and with the help of Lacon, quickly achieve an MVP and, in a further iteration step, a marketable product or solution.“

The partnership between Lacon and Advantech also opens up the digitalisation and industrial IoT playing field to small and medium enterprises. “Our strategic collaboration is a unique and unusual opportunity for German SMEs to access the leading embedded technology of Advantech at a favourable price and, with the development power of the Advantech developers combined with the local Electronic Manufacturing Services of Lacon, to arrive at the perfect product.”, said Hasler confidently.
