Demand-oriented load and charging management via the intelligent multiple socket
ChargeX

Charging e-cars is still a major issue for e-car drivers. According to a study conducted by ChargeX in December 2023, 58% of drivers charge via their own wallbox, 30% use public charging points and 9% mainly charge at their employer's premises. The majority only need 61 to 120 minutes of charging time to cover their daily mobility needs. A lack of public charging stations forces drivers to travel longer distances or reschedule their activities.

Importance of the availability of charging stations

The availability of charging stations in public places is crucial for the acceptance and spread of electric vehicles.
A lack of charging stations can deter potential buyers and meets the fundamental and widespread concerns regarding suitability for everyday use and convenience.

The installation of charging stations is often time-consuming and cost-intensive and requires integration into a load management system.

Challenge

  • Shortage of public charging stations and the impact on drivers.
  • High costs for installation and management of charging stations.
  • Limited power capacities at many locations.
  • Need for load management systems and efficient charging infrastructures.

Intelligent load management
Automatic adjustment of charging distribution based on vehicle type and mobility data & optimisation of resource distribution and prevention of overloads
User-friendly app and payment processing
Description of the app for users and companies & integration of individual mobility data and automated payment services
The number of electric cars is steadily increasing and clever load distribution systems are needed to optimally utilise the existing charging connections for the growing demand. Our industrial engineers developed the Aqueduct charging system, an intelligent multiple socket for electric cars. Turn one into nine, intuitive to use and installed in 60 seconds thanks to plug&play - it couldn't be simpler. And on top of that, the connection costs have been reduced by 50% - that's ODM at its best.

ChargeX Aqueduct charging system

The ChargeX Aqueduct charging system, built by Lacon, is an innovative solution to the problem of a lack of charging stations.
It only requires a permanently installed starter module and uses a plug & play installation concept that facilitates further expansion.
The system can be flexibly retrofitted and enables companies, hotels and public facilities to expand their charging infrastructure quickly and easily.

Intelligent load management

At the heart of the Aqueduct system is its intelligent load management, which recognises whether a vehicle is fully electric or a hybrid and distributes the phases accordingly to make optimum use of the power connection. This distributes the limited charging current among up to ten vehicles.

Efficient utilisation and billing options

The fully dynamic allocation of charging current enables efficient utilisation of the charging infrastructure. Users can be created and automated payment service providers can be accessed, which simplifies billing for companies.

Commissioning and safety features

Commissioning is carried out using ChargeX Remote Technology (installation guide via app) and does not require a qualified electrician. Integrated features such as residual current detection (AC and DC), automated safety checks and "Unmount Detection" (dead switch) ensure safe use.

Dynamic charging strategy and mobility data

The system uses an intelligent charging algorithm that takes both charging management and the user's individual mobility data into account. Users can specify their departure time and required range in a user-friendly app to receive a customised charging strategy.

Questions about ChargeX

The Munich-based company ChargeX was founded in 2018 with the idea of offering intelligent multiple plugs for the charging infrastructure of electric cars. Lacon Electronic and its CEO Dr Ralf Hasler have personally supported and promoted the start-up from the very beginning.

The Aqueduct charging system is manufactured at Lacon's headquarters in Karlsfeld: from electronics and cable assembly to device construction with final assembly of all components, including quality assurance processes, through to dispatch of the finished product.

Since its foundation, ChargeX has already installed over 4,500 charging points for customers throughout the DACH region.
