Railway technology is facing growing challenges: Modern trains and rail systems are increasingly reliant on complex electronic systems to ensure efficiency, safety and comfort. At the same time, these systems must meet the highest standards in terms of reliability, robustness and energy efficiency in order to fulfil the growing demands of the industry.
In this demanding environment, Lacon Electronic offers customised solutions and engineering-driven developments for the railway industry.
With our solutions, we make rail transport faster, more reliable and more sustainable. In addition to highly developed plug-in, control and braking systems, our product portfolio also includes innovations in PCB assembly.
Our products at a glance
- Electromechanics for brake control systems in railway technology

The braking systems from Knorr-Bremse SfS enable passenger and goods trains worldwide to move forward more efficiently. The electromechanics for brake control and other electronic components for smooth operation have been supplied by Lacon for many years. The entire rail transport sector benefits from this, as our components enable reliable, durable and, above all, maintenance-free brake control systems.
We offer a quick and easy kit for connectors in the form of handy connector kits. This zip bag contains all the elements from connector housing to contacts for a functional connector - immediate usability guaranteed.
We process a wide variety of components - from the smallest components (01005), fine pitch, complex multilayers, flexstrip, aluminium PCBs for LEDs to micro BGAs (QFP 55x55) and much more. The speciality of Lacon lies in the assembly sizes for PCBs up to 550x400mm.
If repairs or prototypes are required, we invite you to use our rework and prototyping area: BGA rework facility, dispenser, manual assembly - everything the assembler's heart desires. Our purchasing department procures components worldwide and works together with test houses in the case of discontinued components or uncertain sources of supply to ensure the authenticity of components.
The functionality of an automatic brake control serves to support the driver during the braking process. It is usually used in railway traction units. One of the functions of the brake control system is to bring the train to a standstill at a speed indicated by the driver. It is also used to maintain a speed specified by the driver or to slow down the train.
Connectors are a sub-area of connection technology. Connectors are often built according to specific DIN standards. They connect and disconnect any technical media, mainly cables in the field of electrics or for optical radiation. Connecting parts benefit from their connectors in the following ways:
- Correct alignment due to positive locking of the plug-in parts
- Detachable fixation (force-fit) by spring force
- Additional securing by screwing to prevent detachment (not intended)
A wiring system in electrical engineering contains organized components. In addition, electrical cables and wires are laid there - as on a mounting plate with a variety of aids, for example:
- Cable ducts for cable routing
- Top-hat rails
- Mounting options for the control units
The components mentioned above include, among others:
- Protectors
- Fuses
- Relays
- Programmable logic controllers
- Frequency converters
A control panel is used to control switching elements. It contains contactors, relays and fuses, among other things. Switch panels are used in plant and mechanical engineering as well as in electrical engineering.
First, the wiring harness is constructed. These cables are then combined into a wiring harness according to these specifications and clamped together. The cables are combined on a suitable workbench or on a nailing board, also known as a forming board. Once the cables have been stapled together, the wiring harness is less flexible and can be installed in the appliance.
